At the heart of my therapeutic practice is the recognition that as humans, each of us is interconnected with the people and environment around us. My approach centers on honoring and exploring all interconnected aspects of you and your life including your relationships, emotions, and culture. By uncovering how all the pieces of your daily experience interact we can create a deeper understanding of your relationships and life, which in turn can create a bridge for lasting change. We will work together to cultivate clarity, connectedness, courage, and creativity and all of this will allow you to learn thrive in life rather than survive.
Oftentimes, our wounds and hardships can color our relationships with each other and ourselves and we struggle to fully connect because of our desire to protect ourselves from further hurt. In our sessions, I aim to help you be with these hurts from a place of curiosity and compassion, allowing you to fully and emotionally reconnect with your most authentic way of being. I firmly believe in the power of experiencing and processing emotions, rather than solely analyzing them intellectually and this principle will guide our work. Whether working with individuals, couples, or family members, I use an integrative and relational style of therapy that incorporates Narrative Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and Internal Family Systems to tap into the interconnected healing power you possess. Additionally, in couple and family sessions, I aim to help you reconnect so you both leave feeling fuller in your relationship with yourselves and each other. I specialize in mother daughter relationships, mending relationship between parents and an adult child, and mending relationships with a sibling.
Whether we are exploring dynamics with a family member or exploring your inner world, in our sessions, I walk alongside you guiding you to the truths you already hold within yourself. The space we share will be safe, supportive, and empowering. It will be filled with a mix of laughter and tears as we open up a new vulnerable and authentic world inside of you. If you feel ready to explore, I encourage you to reach out. I will happily begin walking this journey beside you.
Born in Belgium to a Persian mother and Dutch father, my life has been shaped by a unique blend of cultures. I have embraced and integrated aspects from each culture that resonate with me, allowing me to construct my own world. I moved to the United States at the age of 7 and began cultivating a deep intuition about the world and trusting my body’s wisdom since I could not rely on language to guide me. I went on to receive my Bachelor’s in Arts and Science from New York University and went on to work at Argonne National Laboratory researching the link between the gut microbiome and mental health. I wanted to get out from behind the microscope and work with people, where my true passion is.
This led me to complete my Master of Arts in Counseling from St. Edward’s University. I completed my internship at Austin State Hospital working with individuals with long-term mental health issues, complex trauma, and substance abuse. I conducted family sessions and facilitated authentic witnessing between clients at the hospital and their families helping them better understand and support each other.
When I am not initiating systemic change, I am often soaking the sun in like a lizard and seeking out cold watering holes. I find deep joy in connecting with myself and observing the world around me whether it’s gardening or diving deep into some reality tv. I approach most moments in life with curiosity and strive to be embodied, and hope to teach my clients the same.
