My therapy style centers on the powerful impact curiosity and compassion can have on human development and healing. Through this tenet, we will co-create a space that is solely yours to explore what you’re struggling with and how to get you back in the driver seat of life. Often, it taken tremendous courage and bravery to seek help. I am so glad you are here.
You may have found yourself stuck or in unwanted cycles in your life, like preoccupation with food, alcohol or drugs. You may find yourself in relationships that are harmful, without depth, or you may even find yourself shrinking away from relationships and social interactions. Whatever the current pattern, finding a way to break free from unwanted patterns and reconnect with your real self can be hard to untangle without some help. That’s where I come in and together we can make change a reality.
In the room with me, we will focus on retraining your body’s and mind’s responses to align with your most fulfilling life. I take an integrative approach to therapy incorporating evidence-based practices such as Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Interpersonal Neurobiology (IPNB) and Coherence Therapy. With this tailored approach, we will help you discover relief by rethinking your neurological responses, living more in the present, finding new approaches to relate to others, and adding a touch of humor and levity along the way.
Relief from the burdens and challenges of life is possible when we can reconnect to our innate wisdom and feel like our real self again. This can look like finally being able to relax, feeling like you matter, feeling like you are in touch with who you truly are, and with what you have been wanting and needing. Together, we can discover relief through reconnection with yourself and put you back in the driver seat of your life. I hope to be alongside you to explore what you need and who you are. If this resonates with you I encourage you to reach out to begin your healing journey today.
More About Emily
I earned my undergraduate degree in health education and wellness at The University of Texas at Austin and launched my first career in clinical health education in the medical field. As I worked with patients to navigate management of their medical conditions, I also trained in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR). Mindfulness mediation gave rise to living from my and my patients’ resilience with intentional awareness and skill for coping with stress.
Subsequently, I answered the call and discernment to enter my second career in clinical mental health counseling. Through my graduate program and internships I have learned how to apply attachment theories and the cutting edge research on interpersonal neurobiology – all of which resonate deeply with my experience of growth in resilience and hope.
I engage in my own therapeutic work as I have for years to find relief from personal challenges. It has been surprising to experience the joy and freedom in doing this work. At the same time, I have experienced first-hand the edgy anticipation of venturing into being vulnerable. I have always been a life long learner and engage the world as a way of finding meaning. I deeply enjoy sharing my life journey with others through discussions and experiences, as well as, navigating challenges and dreams.
When not working I find great joy and contentment spending time with my two young adult children, going on long walks with my grandpup Levi, conversing during meals with my dearest friends, and creatively indulging in fashion and interior design.
