My counseling approach focuses on exploring and cultivating a deep understanding of your inner world and processing an energetic and emotional release of past pain and old patterns. Together, we will dismantle worn-out beliefs and old roles that no longer serve you, creating space for a new way of moving through the world that aligns with your values and desires and utilizes your intuition as your guide along the way. I aim for every client to leave sessions feeling energized and in greater alignment with themselves and the world around them, as well as a sense of fulfillment, balance, and peace. Every one of us has the wired in capacity to heal and flourish. I utilize body-based and experiential techniques from a trauma-informed lens to unblock that inner capacity, leaving you feeling more connected, centered, and empowered.
My counseling approach is flexible and somatic, allowing for your direction and a natural flow to our work together. Some of the most profound discoveries come from sessions that start with my clients saying, “I don’t know what to talk about today.” If you are open and willing, we will always find our way together. Techniques like guided imagery and meditation will be central to our work together, as well as Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP). You can also expect to be asked to bring your attention to your present moment experience and to hone the ability to tune in to sensations that arise moment to moment as a natural part of our body’s healing system. Often great insights aren’t found in our head, but in our experiences and body instead, and embodying this will be an important part of our work together.
My values for the counseling process are curiosity, security, connection, authenticity, growth, and humor, and these values are reflected in the room. The foundation for curiosity is a sense of safety and acceptance — and in session this gives us the space to ask questions, postulate, and explore freely. Through this, I will challenge you, laugh with you, celebrate you, and be a secure and enthusiastic base for your meaningful self-expansion. Moreover, I love my job and value every connection I make with others. It feels so special to be let into your life and given the opportunity to work with you as you strive for expansion, healing, and joy. If my approach resonates with you, then I encourage you to reach out. I am here to support you!
My passion for self-exploration and growth started with my own work. Since fourteen, I have worked on and off with a therapist who has guided me through many life transitions, developing a solid sense of self, and deepening my spirituality and connection to my internal guidance system. This relationship taught me the power of strong therapeutic guidance in healing and navigating life’s highs and lows. This experience and my passion for learning led me to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from UT Austin. Next, I completed my Master of Arts in Counseling from St. Edward’s University (all without having to leave my hometown!)
I completed internships at Austin Child Guidance Center and Integral Care and received my clinical training at the Austin State Hospital (ASH). While at ASH, I got to work with clients ranging from fifteen to seventy years old from a diverse array of backgrounds. I learned about forensics, acute, and long-term serious mental health issues, substance abuse, and how the mental health system works. Throughout that experience, I found myself going home after work and meditating, playing my chakra bowls, and pulling Tarot cards to decompress and find support. Slowly, my identity as a therapist began to emerge as it became essential for me to incorporate my own healing practices and coping skills into my clinical work.
Outside of bangin’ on chakra bowls, I love to go on walks, practice piano, and thoroughly enjoy food, whether home-cooked or out at a cute restaurant. And as a lover of the ritual and comfort of a cup of tea, I always welcome clients to sip on a cup while in session. Therapy is a mix of fun, light-hearted connection and deep, vulnerable work that I believe is most powerful when it is authentic. I try to structure my life much the same way.
