  • High quality, In-person learning; class size is capped at 7 students and includes a mixture of didactic learning, experiential learning, and demonstrations.

The purpose of this workshop is to provide licensed mental health clinicians the foundational information and experiential practice necessary to begin integrating clinical hypnosis into their established skillset and clinical work with patients, specifically in an outpatient mental health setting. The workshop is designed as a unique in-person, small-group learning opportunity. The syllabus is designed so that the CE hours may count as the Level 1 Basic training that is a required component towards ASCH certification in Clinical Hypnosis. This workshop strictly follows the most up-to-date ASCH-ERF Standards of Training for a Level 1 workshop and proposes 21.5 hours of CE hours.

The curriculum includes all didactic educational topics and experiential group practice exercises required by ASCH-ERF in a Level 1/Basic Clinical Hypnosis Workshop. We will define hypnosis, offer a brief history of hypnosis, and correct common misperceptions about the natural process of hypnosis and brain state of trance. An overview of the neuroscience of the trance state will be offered. Participants will be shown various demonstrations of the hypnotic process, utilizing both audience volunteers and video recordings of work with actual clients (with client consent). Each stage of the hypnotic process will be taught, explored, and practiced. The 3-day workshop will include four separate small group practice sessions. Special attention will be given to ethics, treatment planning, and integrating clinical hypnosis into clinical practice, as these topics are especially relevant to mental health practitioners.

Endorsements:

“In 20 years of practice, and SO many CE workshops, I can unequivocally say this workshop was absolute perfection. I have been interested in hypnotherapy for some time, but it wasn’t a top learning choice for me; however, this workshop was the right time and the right amount of hours for my licensing renewal. However, when I saw the time commitment, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5:45 (and we used every single one of those minutes) I experienced a bit of dread. On Thursday, I considered taking Monday off to recover. Boy, did I NOT need it. I came back Monday with an alert mind and sharpend skills just in my normal modalities. To my shock and delight every minute was fascinating, interesting, educational and super comfortable. Katy has a prescence about her that is very calming (duh, she’s a hynotherapist) that made the learning environment super safe and open. I just happened to be with an amazing supportive group which added a fun element (we laughed and cried, like any good CE session SHOULD be, and we learned. I had some skeptisim about hypnosis, especially in the therapeutic setting in the beginning; now I’m a convert. While I definitely feel like a newbie and am humble about where I’m at regarding my skill level, day one back at the office I began discussing the possibility with my clients whom I believed would be good candidates for the experience. If Katy did a Level 2, I would sign up right now. But she was so effective at training that I’m willing to go to the next level whomever teaches it. If you’re interested in hynotherapy, sign up right now for the next class with Katy if possible. If you’re skeptical, sign up right now for the next class with Katy and you’ll be a convert, you won’t be sorry. I don’t know if the other teachers are as skilled, but if you can’t get Katy, try anyway. It’s an awesome modality with so many potentials. And to be perfectly clear and ethical; I have zero incentive for this endorsement. It just truly is this amazing.” –Jan Anderson, LPC

“This workshop was incredible! Katy was a wonderful instructor and facilitator, and it was lovely to learn alongside like-minded colleagues. The balance between didactic learning and experiential activities made the time both engaging and informative, and I appreciated the opportunity to hone our skills in a supportive environment. I feel well-equipped to use this clinical hypnosis with clients and highly recommend this training to anyone interested in this powerful technique!” –Melissa Víctor Totah, LPC-S

“I learned so much during this training, but especially due to the kind, supportive nature of Katy David. She does an amazing job of going at an easily digestible pace and also allowing ample time and space for questions along the way. I always felt that I could interject and this was well received, leading me to feel more comfortable doing so, and in turn getting much more out of the training.” –Steve Jones, LCSW-S, LCDC

“This was an outstanding course. This quality of psychotherapy training is hard to come by in my experience. I especially appreciated the ability to integrate the ideas presented in real time and in 3-D (in-person). The trainer offered leadership with many inspirational practice ideas. In addition, the number of participants permitted a supportive and fun group dynamic which left me feeling a little less professionally isolated—or what I would really like to say is that I felt delightfully connected to other professionals. Highly recommend!” –Catherine Haun, LCSW

“This was such a fun and engaging workshop! I appreciated the intimate group and felt like we all got a lot of helpful practice. Katy is super informed and talented at hypnotherapy, and I really enjoyed learning from her. I felt inspired and revitalized in my therapy career, and highly recommend this course!” –Greer Culbertson, LCSW-S

“The training was really wonderful. I appreciate the format of the training, the teaching style, and the experiential components. I think that this training has really shifted the lense for me in how I conceptualize not only hypnosis but the overall treatment engagement I have with my clients. I am very grateful to have had this opportunity.” –Emily O’Shea, LCSW-S

“I came into the learning space only having seen hypnosis utilized in films, television, or those ridiculous videos where people were made to do ridiculous things for entertainment purposes, but having the privilege of being Katy’s colleague for two years I knew there had to be more to this modality within the therapeutic field. I was not disappointed. In fact, I came out of this training wondering why it is not within every therapist’s scope of practice or within our educational curriculum. I highly encourage practitioners to take this very comprehensive and affordable training with Katy. I believe now more then ever our clients will need healing modalities that create permanent shifts in their lives that are gentle, positive, supportive, and relaxing to the nervous system.” — Tita Machado, LPC

“Katy is a wonderful teacher with immense knowledge and experience in hypnosis and I highly recommend her Hypnosis level 1 training. The training was everything I needed it to be, to prepare me and build my confidence in putting hypnosis into practice. It was so exciting learning about this modality and the excitement continues as I implement what I learned from the training!” –Whitney Granado, LPC

“Clinical hypnosis is a powerful, versatile therapeutic tool. In this comprehensive training, you will get hands on experience, and leave feeling equipped with the information you need to start applying hypnosis in your sessions right away. Katy creates a safe environment for exploration, questions, and practice, so that you can leave feeling confident and excited to explore. Highly recommend!”  –Hayden Rosato, LPC-Associate
