Available for In-Person Sessions & Teletherapy

I provide a refuge for you explore your world and heal from the inside out, a place where you are deeply heard, seen, felt, and understood. I tailor my approach to your needs, strengths, and goals, and often draw from: Mindfulness and Somatic techniques, Existentialism, Emotional Freedom Technique, CBT, Solution-focused therapy, and Moderation Management (a harm reduction approach). Within couples counseling, I also utilize Gottman Theory and Emotionally Focused therapy. Perhaps most importantly, I allow my own intuition and professional experience to guide our work.

In our sessions, I am by your side, guiding and supporting you. I am caring, compassionate, intuitive and empathic. I am very real and use humor when appropriate. I focus on grounding you before our work begins and throughout our time together, drawing on experiential practices. Part of my therapeutic style is also being direct. I will not tell you what to do, but I do ask direct questions, and will challenge you in a supportive way when needed. I provide encouragement, helping you recognize and capitalize on your strengths, something that can be hard when we spend a lot of time being self-critical.

In our session time, we will collaborate to explore your inner world with curiosity, using the insight we gain to cultivate a life compass for you that is in alignment with your most authentic self. I will provide you tools to address specific difficulties, patterns, beliefs or questions that you would like to explore. It is my heartfelt goal that you connect with yourself, and/or your partner completely and holistically, in body mind and spirit.

A strong therapeutic relationship is one of the most important parts of counseling. I have found being there, alongside a person on their journey through life, extremely valuable in aiding their growth and healing. I strive to provide and model a secure attachment in our time together. I believe how we grew up, our environment, and our wants and desires, all relate to how we interact with others and the world around us. I believe this also affects how we see ourselves. While I enjoy being deeply connected to my clients, my ultimate goal is to support your journey towards self-reliance and inner resilience.

More About Michelle

I moved to Austin from England 12 years ago. Previously, I was a social worker working in foster care and child protection. I have worked with families, youth homelessness, independent living, drug and alcohol abuse, and at an inpatient care hospital. I have worked at a counseling center with adults and at Texas State Career Center. I have a BSc (Hons) Social Work from the UK and a Master’s in Counseling from St. Edward’s University.

My social work experience has taught me so much about people, including how we may endure so much pain and heartache through life, but how we can overcome this and strive to be who we want to be.

Counseling called to me while living in Austin as I love to work with people. I have dyslexia, which has sometimes been difficult, but now I see it as one of my ‘superpowers’. I have an ability to see what each person is explaining in my mind’s eye. I want to make a difference with every individual or couple I work with, helping them find a resolution, whatever that may look like for each of us.

In my personal time I enjoy cooking plant-based meals. I have a love of 80’s films. I enjoy listening to music loudly in my car. My cat is always by my side when I’m home. I enjoy being in nature, especially being close to the amazing trees in Austin, which I find very grounding. I drink a large amount of tea; I think that’s the Brit in me. I use meditation and EFT to ground myself. I love star-gazing, traveling and am a very spiritual person.
